Interactive Developer: iOS

The ideal Interactive Developer would have several years of experience in a collaborative, creative, team environment with knowledge of and a passion for Objective-C/iOS.

A thorough understanding of Objective-C/Cocoa/iOS is a necessity. Candidates should have at least basic to moderate understanding of iOS fundamentals, and should have experience developing for both iPhone and iPad – owning either, or both, of these devices is a plus. Candidates should also be familiar with Apple’s Developer Center and provisioning process. Must be proficient with Xcode, and iPhone Configuration Utility.

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in Interactive Design/Development, New Media (or similar area of study), or equivalent interactive development experience. We are looking for rare individuals that have a gift for original thinking, a broad exposure to various development best practices within the interactive medium. Candidates will be expected to develop creative solutions and provide essential application development support for striking and effective graphical user interfaces for web, touch-screen kiosks, and mobile devices.

Interactive Developer

Candidates should have 1-3 years of interactive design experience. We are looking for rare individuals that have a gift for original thinking, a broad exposure to design and design styles as well as having a mastery of the tools involved in developing the interactive medium. Candidates will be expected to develop creative solutions and produce striking and effective graphical user interfaces for web, mobile, and touch-screen kiosk.

Candidates must be experienced with PHP5 and Object Oriented Programming. Candidate must also be familiar with HTML5/CSS3  and XML. Knowledge of Actionscript 3.0, Javascript, and a background in Java and/or Objective-C is preferred.

He/she must have excellent communication skills and be a great team player. We are looking for people that are willing to work hard and learn on a continual basis.

FREELANCE POSITION: Interactive Developer

A thorough understanding of ActionScript3 is a necessity. Candidates should also have at least basic to moderate understanding of Android and iOS fundamentals, and should have experience developing for mobile devices using AS3. Candidates should also be familiar with Apple’s Developer Center and provisioning process; and with Google Play's developer center/process.

Freelancers should have a Bachelor’s degree in Interactive Design/Development, New Media (or similar area of study), or equivalent interactive development experience. We are looking for individuals that have a gift for original thinking and a broad exposure to various development best practices within the interactive medium. Editorial Intern

2ndNature is looking for editorial interns for a new site, launching this fall: Armory Square Online. The ideal intern has his/her finger on the pulse of downtown Syracuse, from news to events to politics to music and more. Armory Square Online is looking for young, energetic and bright writers for all of our content areas.  

Writers may feel free to adopt a “beat” and pitch story ideas within that beat, or cover several topic areas.  Writers should expect to pitch and/or accept assignments, research, interview, write and edit articles and blog posts for Armory Square Online, which will be posted under your own byline.

Internship Parameters:

Unless otherwise negotiated, the position would be part time (not to exceed 30 hours/week) for the necessary length defined by the school’s internship requirements, with a flexible start and end date.

There is no pay but course credit for an internship requirement will be certified where applicable.  A letter confirming academic credit is applicable is required from the university/college.

Internship will comply with parameters set forth by program and advisor/internship coordinator.

Health benefits and travel expenses will not be provided

This position in based in Syracuse, NY. Housing costs are not covered. Intern may work at his/her home or school at a schedule that is flexible and works well with other coursework demands.

It may be possible to extend internship work beyond the designated timeframe, including freelance or portfolio-building work.

Qualifications:

Candidates should have:

Interest and demonstrated ability in social media and news writing, and an ability to meet short-term deadlines;

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and be detail-oriented and internet-savvy;

A thorough knowledge of downtown Syracuse restaurants, bars, music, and shops. 

Candidates should be:

Working towards/already has a degree in Marketing, Business, English, Journalism, or other applicable field.

Someone who enjoys writing and is good at it!  You should also have a sense of humor, not take yourself too seriously, be creative, and be able to reflect an attitude or a point of view in your writing.  

Fluent in social media, e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.

Familiar with the basics of blogging, particularly Wordpress. 

A self-starter who has a keen eye for detail

Able to use standard computer word-processing software such as Word and be familiar with Web-based and face-to-face research methods.

Familiar with image editing and manipulation also helpful, i.e., downloading, re-sizing, cropping, etc., but is not required.
